Car Accidents

Rear-end accident in New York leaves one injured, one dead

Intoxication is one of the most common contributors to car accidents — and it is not difficult to see why. Alcohol notoriously lowers a person’s inhibitions and negatively impacts motor skills. The combination of these two impairments renders a drunk driver highly dangerous. It is not uncommon for injuries and deaths to occur after encountering a drunk driver on the road.

A recent accident in New York involved a driver who was suspected of intoxication, according to reports. The driver, a 28-year-old woman, was driving a white sedan on a New York street when she rear-ended a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old man. The white sedan flipped over following the crash.

Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene. The driver of the white sedan was taken to a nearby hospital, along with a passenger in the vehicle. The driver was in stable condition. Sadly, the passenger died at the hospital. The 18-year-old driver of the other vehicle was also transported to a nearby hospital. Though injured, he was said to be in stable condition.

Following the crash, the 28-year-old driver of the white sedan is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and DUI.

Serious injuries and sometimes death can frequently result from a car accident involving a drunk driver. Victims who survive such an incident often have to suffer great emotional and physical trauma. While recovering from this pain and suffering, victims should not also have to endure the financial strains so often inflicted on them following car accidents. With legal expertise and a strong strategy, victims can oftentimes pursue compensation from a drunk driver and receive aid in covering the many expenses that a car accident can spawn.
