Car Accidents

New York auxiliary officers seriously injured in crash

Spending lots of time on the road can be dangerous. Some are unable to avoid lots of driving time because of their jobs or lifestyles. In such cases, the risk of being in a car accident is greatly increased. It is impossible to control the actions of other drivers on the road and a driver may be going through a daily routine when another driver suddenly causes a car accident. When this happens, victims have rights.

A particularly devastating two-car accident occurred recently in New York. Four New York Police Department auxiliary officers suffered serious injuries after being pinned under their police car, according to reports. While on duty, another driver struck their vehicle at a New York intersection. Four of the officers and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital. The injuries suffered were not considered life-threatening. The police vehicle’s front end sustained serious damage as well.

Police were unsure of who had the right of way, but they suspect there was a criminal element involved. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

Accident injuries and vehicle damages can result in many costs. For many victims, these costs can be difficult to shoulder. In cases where another driver is suspected to be at fault, victims oftentimes choose to pursue legal action in the form of a negligence lawsuit. A successful negligence lawsuit allows victims to obtain compensation for the damages done to them.

Compensation can help them pay for the costs resulting from vehicle damages and medical expenses and it can help them get back on their feet financially. Oftentimes, compensation is an important piece in a victim’s overall recovery from a traumatic car accident.
