Wrongful Death

Crash with bus leaves motorcyclist fatally injured

The size differences between motorcycles and larger vehicles like buses and semi-trucks are astronomical. The chances of surviving such a crash are low — for the motorcyclist. Motorcyclists are at greater risk of suffering fatal injuries than motorists in larger, more protected vehicles. What’s more, other motorists often fail to notice motorcyclists on the road. When they do so, they may be guilty of negligence and the families of victims may be eligible for compensation.

Tragically, a motorcyclist was killed in a recent New York bus crash. On a Wednesday morning, the 26-year-old motorcyclist was travelling south on a street in Brooklyn. The motorcyclist hit a bus that was turning left, authorities said. As a result, the 26-year-old suffered severe trauma to the body. Sadly, he died at a nearby hospital a short time following the accident. His name had not yet been released.

According to reports, the bus driver remained on the scene following the accident. A 75-year-old passenger in the bus also suffered injuries. The accident was under investigation. This is the sixth fatal accident this year in which a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus was involved.

Following a fatal accident, families may wish to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit. While suffering with the loss of a loved one, these families are often forced to shoulder a variety of expenses, including funeral costs and medical expenses. This can only add further suffering to a family that has already suffered enough.

A successful wrongful death lawsuit may allow these families to obtain compensation. Compensation can help alleviate many of these financial burdens, freeing families from such strain and allowing them to focus on their emotional recoveries.
