MARCH MARKS NATIONAL LADDER SAFETY AWARENESS MONTH: PROTECTING CONSTRUCTION WORKERS
This month, we observe National Ladder Safety Month, an awareness campaign dedicated to highlighting the crucial importance of ladder safety, particularly in the construction industry. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), falls from ladders are among the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities. Shockingly, OSHA reports that over 100 workers are fatally injured, and thousands more are seriously injured in ladder-related incidents each year.
Construction worksites in NYC are governed by stringent labor laws aimed at safeguarding the rights and ensuring the safety of workers who utilize ladders.
IMPLEMENTING LADDER SAFETY
Employers, supervisors, and management must proactively prioritize safety on job sites by:
- Offering comprehensive training sessions.
- Providing suitable equipment.
- Enforcing adherence to safety protocols.
- Cultivating a culture of awareness and accountability among all personnel.
PROMOTING LADDER SAFETY
As we observe National Ladder Safety Month, Pazer, Epstein, Jaffe & Fein supports OSHA and their initiatives in raising awareness and providing education to increase safety measures and mitigate workers being injured.
